Welcome to the Green Nations Gathering 2008. During these rapidly changing times it is imperative that we continue to dedicate ourselves to the ideals and dreams of sustainable herb usage, holistic healthcare and Earth connection that began in 1989 with our first gathering. We have chosen Rowe Center as our home because it is a retreat center that echoes our visions and provides an intimate, supportive environment for our work to deepen helping us to awaken to the dream held in our hearts of the possibility for living a healthy and sustainable way of life. It is our hope that you, too, are moved to walk in the spirit of the Green Nations and that you will join us in keeping the vision of a life-giving world alive.
We have honored your requests over the years to bring teachings that meet your needs. With this in mind we are bringing back the live case study. This is an opportunity to follow the case of a client (who will be present) and hear from each of the herbal practitioner panelists on their suggestions for a health program for the client. You will also have a chance to ask questions and interact with the herbalists.
This year our dates correspond with the autumnal equinox, that time of year where we are held in the balance of equal light and dark. We will honor the turning of the wheel of the year with a fire circle so please bring your instruments and songs to share. As always, we will hold the container of the gathering with a sweat lodge ceremony offering our prayers as a way to feed the spirits of the green plant nations.
We are excited to bring together again those of the Green Nations, forming a community of people who love Earth, respect all her beings and honor the interdependent diversity needed for peaceful, sustainable life and who gather together to learn, inspire each other, network for the planet, play and renew our commitment to live in beauty and walk in harmony on Earth, our partner.
During these Earth changing times it is not only important but imperative for us to gather ourselves together. As the Hopi prophecies tell us:
"To my fellow swimmers there is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift, that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore, they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly. Know that the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our heads above water. And I say see who is there with you and celebrate. At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally, least of all ourselves, for the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey come to a halt. The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves. Banish the word struggle from your attitude and vocabulary. All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration. We are the ones we have been waiting for."
